Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' The Curtain Wall Design Workshop course gives the building professional a working insight into the realities of working with curtain wall systems through an exposure to "real life" challenges and solutions. The "rules of thumb" developed for curtain wall system designs are presented along with market segments, types of products and a general overview of contractor/subcontractor relationships. The interaction between the contractors, architects, consultants, owners and subcontractors will be studied along with building types and curtain wall construction history.
Emphasis is placed on the preplanning and development of strategies that will best facilitate customer service and relationships. Participants will be given reference materials and a list of objectives for the course while learning the types of curtain walls currently in existence and how they are composed.
The tools of the trade, such as structural programs, analysis programs and CAD programs are also explored to give a working knowledge of the requirements of design and to insure correct information is available at the design phase.
Drafting standards, types of information required, coordination of shop, field and structural information are discussed. Learn the simple tools for approximating the requirements for mullion spans in simple and multilevel systems while estimating the cost of engineering. Curtain wall testing along with air, water, structural, thermal and acoustical requirements are discussed.
The coordination of efforts, documentation, purchasing and production are presented along with the areas of accounting, MIS and administration. Different curtain wall systems, safety requirements and programs currently in place are also important aspects of this course.
