'' This program can help graduates prepare to design, deploy, and manage data communication systems and infrastructures. Courses are designed to address challenges in understanding and applying various solutions to help user organizations achieve their business goals with effective use of data communication technologies of choice. The technical content focuses on theories and applications of various popular data communication technologies and platforms. The curriculum builds upon topics of networking and internetworking standards and protocols, routing, switching, capacity planning, traffic engineering, Web technologies, network service integration, and various configurations that enable desired functions in given systems. The coursework offers a foundation in communication theories through the study of subjects such as data and networking communications, technical mathematics, theories and analyses in areas of integrated network systems and services, database functions and administration, and lifelong learning subjects.
Career Opportunities Graduates of this program may pursue career opportunities involving the design, deployment, implementation, and administration of networking and data communication systems and infrastructures in a variety of entry-level positions with various titles, such as system administrator, network administrator, system engineer, network engineer, system analyst, network analyst, system specialist and network specialist.

School Equipment Students will have exposure to some hands-on applications with typical data communication systems equipment, such as client computers, servers, hubs, routers, switches, software for such systems, selected wiring components and testing tools. Software-based simulation tools may be used in place of more sophisticated hardware tools and equipment. Refer to Student Equipment in the Online Course Information section of this catalog for information relating to the student equipment requirements for the distance education courses that are taught online over the Internet.
Class Size Classes generally range in size from 15 to 28 students. Depending on the course subject matter, certain classes may contain a greater or lesser number of students.
