Training Course:

Novel Writing & Getting Published

School/Trainer:

Australian College
Sydney, NSW, Australia

Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced

Course Description:

'' Just look at some of our successful Australian authors: Colleen McCullough, Bryce Courtenay, Matthew Reilly, Kathryn Fox, Stephen Reilly, Kate Grenville, Thomas Keneally, David Malouf, Clive James, Peter Carey, Judy Nunn, Simon Brown, Monica McInerney, Fiona McIntosh, and more ...

Many of them started out by undertaking a writing course. Why? To learn the fundamental skills of plot, dialogue, characterisation, flow, continuity, transition and how to lay out their novel and prepare it for publication.

Writing a novel—or writing many novels and becoming a successful author—really is achievable. Sure, you can struggle along without these skills but you may continue to struggle for your lifetime. Why do this when you can simply learn everything you need to in one comprehensive course.

The Novel Writing & Getting Published Course is designed to help you flesh out your idea and develop it into a book with a beginning, middle and end. You will learn to weave it into a gripping plot, complete with believable characters and credible dialogue.

For many people, writing a novel is the fulfillment of a lifelong ambition. For others it heralds the desire to become a career novelist and write for a living. It’s fun to write a novel but anyone who has started and stopped will tell you—it’s not easy to complete one without the proper instruction in novel writing skills. In this course your personal tutor provides you with step-by-step guidance—starting from the story idea right through to signing a book contract.

The best thing this course does for you, though, is to help you get your ideas out of your head and onto paper. Let’s face it, many people come up with ideas but it is the actual writing of the novel that stops them from getting their book written and onto the shelves. That’s where this course is invaluable. You are going to be guided and supported through the stages of starting, exploring and completing your book. Once this is done you will learn how to get it published and how to market it.

Earning royalties as a novel writer is a great way to turn your interest in writing into a lifetime income. To do this, though, you will need to learn how to write properly, with structure and flow. Your goal with this course is to write a novel and hold the published book in your hands.

You can write fiction for nearly any genre: family drama, comedy, thriller, romance, detective, western, intrigue, science fiction, historical saga, fantasy, adventure or crime. It can be literary or contemporary in style. It can have plots and sub-plots and as many chapters as you like.

This course can take you through the doorway that leads to your first published novel, your second, your third and so on. This is an amazing course so don’t put your writing career on hold any longer. Even a little writing each week will help you to progress with your book. So get started now and start achieving your dreams!

Career opportunities include: Fiction Writer, Novelist, Short Story Writer, Ghost Writer.

Industries include: publishing.

Adult fiction writers plan and write manuscrupts for publication. These manuscripts can be for short stories, full length novels, trilogies or series books.

Many novelists specialise in a specific genre; however, there are others who do cross multiple genres, producing a different range of books. Some experienced novelists even delve into ghost writing--writing novels under other names (often for VIPs or celebrities). Novelists usually:

plan and draft out the original manuscript
develop the plot, characters and dialogue
revise or edit the work, making sure that the style is consistent, there is proper development of the theme, plot and characterisation
set out the original manuscript so that it is clear and legible and submit the work to a publisher
work with other specialists, such as proofreaders and editors.
Work may be commissioned by a book publisher or may be sold by the writer or a literary agent acting on the writer’s behalf.
