About the course:
FreeHand Fundamentals is a 2-day course that provides experienced Web developers with the knowledge and hands-on practice they need to create and publish sophisticated vector-based graphics. Upon completion of this course, you should be able to design material for print, as well as use that same artwork for a Web site.

Unit 1: FreeHand Basics

* Learning the FreeHand MX interface
* Customizing your workspace
* Combining basic shapes to create a complex image
* Using the Knife tool to create two objects from one
* Grouping several objects into a single object

Unit 2: Adding Pages and Text

* Creating a default document template
* Adding new pages
* Importing graphics
* Using the Text tool to enter and format text
* Applying kerning to text
* Adding special characters
* Shifting text off the baseline

Unit 3: Colors, Gradients and Styles

* Learning about splitting and joining paths
* Reflecting, scaling, and rotating objects
* Using the Color Mixer and Tints panels to create colors
* Adding colors to the Swatches panel
* Creating gradients
* Saving graphics properties on the Styles panel
* Using the Subselect and Arc tools

Unit 4: Using Layers

* Moving objects above and below other objects
* Adding layers and movie objects to those layers
* Changing the order of layers
* Hiding, showing and locking layers
* Aligning and distributing objects
* Rotating an object in 3D space
* Changing the color of a layer

Unit 5: Using Points and Paths

* Using the Bezigon tool to draw shapes with straight line segments
* Using commands to combine shapes
* Adding and customizing dashed lines
* Using the Pen tool to draw objects with curved and straight segments
* Changing a curved point to a connector point
