Course Description:

'' This module introduces students to the history and development of NLP and the foundational premises for using NLP as a behavioural technology.

Students learn: to recognise the components of state management and how to develop appropriate resourceful states; to identify the conditions of well-formed outcomes; to develop rapport; to understand and apply the non-verbal communications patterns that people use; and, to appreciate other people’s maps of reality. Students are introduced to the use of metaphor and story telling throughout the duration of the course. NLP provides essential information for highly effective work in the fields of education and learning, business performance, counselling and groupwork.

Learning outcomes

Describes the history and development of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and the foundational premises for using NLP as a behavioural technology
Recognises the components of state management and developing appropriate resourceful states
Identifies the conditions for well-formed outcomes
Identifies the principles and applications of rapport
Develops the sensory acuity to be able to calibrate and apply the non-verbal communication patterns that people use
Identifies the components of the Meta Model, developing an understanding of, and proficiency with, the relationship between language and behaviour using linguistic principles
Recognises the importance of using the principles of ecology when working with other people
Identifies means for encoding experience via submodalities
Develops the ability to appreciate other people’s maps of reality
