'' In recognition of the range of skills and knowledge required to be an effective manager, the JMC Academy’s Entertainment Business Management courses are oriented first and foremost, towards building sound business skills within the context of the music and entertainment field. So comprehensive are the business practices taught within these courses, they may be applied to the successful running of any business.
Students are provided with a solid grounding in the fundamentals of commerce, copyright, accounting, economics, marketing, and law. Additional modules include artist development, the preparation of press releases and contracts, and the organisation of rehearsals and recording schedules.
Students are also taught the fundamentals of total event management including the coordination of budgets, venue selection and the development of publicity and booking schedules.
The Entertainment Business Management courses include a large scope for students to immediately exercise their practical skills through demonstrations and role-playing. They are required to integrate their knowledge and abilities with the talents of students from other departments such as those from Popular Music and Performance. Throughout the course of their studies, they are required to manage these artists through the production of press releases, video clips, contracts and event booking schedules.
