Course Description:

'' This course is designed to enhance and elaborate on the information provided in the Basic Care of Reptiles and Amphibian Course. The course is presented by Martin Fingland, former QPWS ranger and owner of Geckoes Wildlife Presentations. It will be of particular interest to those who have already gained some experience with reptiles and are looking to build on that experience or specialise their activities, particularly those working or intending to work in the wildlife area.

The course will provide detailed information on some of the less commonly available groups of reptiles, or reptiles requiring specialist skills, such as venomous snakes, crocodiles, file snakes, monitors, dragons and geckoes. It will provide an insight into the ecology, biology and characteristics of these animals in the wild and in captivity.

This course will provide training in and allow participants an opportunity to handle low risk species. It will provide specific information on Qld reptile legislation, codes of practice, health and hygiene, specialised husbandry, feeding, handling and transport. It will also provide a unique opportunity to experience a wide range of unusual reptiles firsthand.

A mixture of theoretical information and practical handling demonstrations will be provided. The opportunity to participate in handling low risk species will be provided. ...''
