Training Course:Weed Control and Chemical Application WorkshopSchool/Trainer:Brisbane North Institute of TAFE Brisbane, QLD, Australia
Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' The workshop is for weed controllers who have some commercial weed control experience and may also need to obtain a Queensland Commercial Operator?s Licence (often referred to as the ?ACDC Licence?).
In Queensland, the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries (DPI&F) administers the Agricultural Chemicals Distribution Control Act 1966 (ACDC Act). The ACDC Act controls ground distribution (spraying, spreading or dispersing) of herbicides from ground equipment and also aerial distribution of agricultural chemicals from aircraft.
Information on the regulatory aspects of the ground distribution of herbicides and the aerial distribution of agricultural chemicals is available from DPI&F at the following link: http://www.dpi.qld.gov.au/cps/rde/xchg/dpi/hs.xsl/4790_4886_ENA_HTML.htm
Generally, if you intend carrying out ground distribution of herbicides from designated ground equipment on land that you do not own or occupy, you most likely will need to obtain a Commercial Operators Licence. Factors that can determine whether you need a licence include the type of ground equipment you are using and whether you are carrying out the ground distribution in a declared hazardous area.
The approved accreditation as a qualification for an unrestricted class of licence is the holding of Statements of Attainment certifying competency at Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 3, with respect to the following national units of competency which will be covered during the workshop:
RTC 3704A - Prepare and apply chemicals RTC 3401A - Control weeds RTC 3705A - Transport, handle and store chemicals.
Successful completion of the above units will entitle you to apply for your Commercial Operator?s Licence from DPI&F.
In addition; you will also obtain the nationally recognized SMARTtrain Chemical Accreditation which satisfies the training requirement for using APVMA restricted chemicals and the needs of many industry Quality Assurance programs. You will also receive the SMARTtrain identity card.
