'' This short course is for people involved in weed control who have limited experience in this area and would like to gain some more knowledge in:
?Weed identification
?Characteristics of weeds
?Weed control methods
?Pesticide safety
?Pesticide application
The short course would be of interest to:
?school grounds staff
?weed control contractors
?community organizations such as Landcare and bush regeneration groups
?local government staff involved in weed control
Training will be undertaken at Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 2, with respect to the following national units of competency:
?RTC2401A Treat Weeds
?RTC2706A Apply Chemicals Under Supervision
?RTC2702A Observe Environmental Work Practices
?RTC2701A Follow Occupational Health and Safety Procedures
These units are contained within the Amenity Horticulture Training Package RTF03, the Conservation and Land Management Training Package RTD02 and the Rural Production Training Package RTE03. Further information about these competencies is available at www.ntis,gov.au. Participants wishing to gain competency for these units and obtain a Statement of Attainment will need to complete the assessment tasks. However, assessment is optional. ...''
