Course Description:

'' Changes to the Food Act 2006 require all licensed food businesses to nominate a Food Safety Supervisor (FSS), whose role is to ensure food hygiene and safety standards are achieved and maintained with the food business. The Food Safety Supervisor provisions under the Food Act 2006 commence on 22 February 2008. However, to allow sufficient time for persons to undertake the required competencies and to ensure food businesses comply with the requirements, the Minister for Health has committed to an enforcement amnesty on these provisions until 1 July 2008.

To be nominated as a FSS, a person must hold a Statement of Attainment for specified competencies relevant to the type of business in which they operate, under the following four categories :

* Food processing
* Retail and hospitality
* Health and community services
* Transport and distribution.

Brisbane North Institute of TAFE will be conducting Food Safety Supervisor training via self paced workbook with an assessment session on campus. Recognition of Prior Learning is also available. ...''
