Course Description:
'' An exciting, nationally accredited course including both animation and digital audio principles using two Industry leading products - Adobe Flash and Audition. This subject fuses the dynamic world of on-line animation with exciting area of digital sound providing an introduction to animation and digital audio concepts with an emphasis on practical outcomes for the on-line environment.
Students will create soundtrack, narrative and event sound artefacts, still and animated artwork and integrate these into a comtemporary Flash movie product. The piece may take many forms (advertisement, promotion, artistic, cartoon, educaiton or instructive).
You will develop the following skills during the Flash - Digital Audio: Introduction:
Flash: Principles of animation in the digital environment; file management and formats, document creation, application creation, layers, create a user interface, drawing, symbols & instances, animation & navigation, text manipulation, scripting, timeline animation, integration of sound; create 2D animation sequences using cell and tween based techniques; learn 2D drawing techniques to create composite objects, symbols and scenes; understand current approaches to animation and available software.
Digital Audio: Underpinning principles, recording techniques, special effects & mixing, MIDI, sequencing: record audio from various sources (microphone, CD, Real Time streams, external sources); understand Audio from first principles (Amplitutde, sound waves, frequency, mono and stereo, sampling, formats; special effects and mixing techniques (noise reduction, Parametric Equalisation, etc); understand MIDI concepts; use a sequencing package to produce a soundtrack and sound bytes. ...''
