'' This course introduces the language of the Web, XHTML (Extensible HyperText Markup Language) and the simple mechanism for adding style to it - Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Finally we look at the ’glue’ that binds the Web components together - JavaScript.
Being a "coding" course we get to look under "the hood" of the Web and examine its inner workings. Suitable for students new to the area or those looking to gain more control and understanding of their designs and the online environment generally.
Finally we create basic, standards compliant Web Site and test.
You will develop the following skills during this short course
XHTML: markup, elements, attributes, and values, page and site design, navigation structures, basic (x)html structure, images, links, tables, forms, multimedia, image maps, text control.
CSS: constructing a style rule, adding comments to style rules, the cascade, when rules collide, a property’s value, creating an external style sheet, linking external style sheets, offering alternate style sheets, creating an internal style sheet, importing external style sheets, constructing selectors, formatting with styles, structuring your pages, displaying and hiding elements.
JavaScript: execution, structured program concepts, Sequence,
selection, Iteration, functions, arrays, objects, event model. Also intergration of pre-written scripts.
