The term ‘manual handling�is used to describe a range of activities including lifting, loading, pushing, pulling, carrying, moving, holding or restraining an object. It also covers activities which require the use of force or effort such as pulling or operating power tools.

Planning the relocating loads Assessing the workplace layout and selecting the appropriate route Modifying the work area or layout Coordinating team lifting tasks where appropriate Learning Outcomes At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
Assess safety and risk factors when relocating loads Use appropriate manual handling procedures for lifting, lowering and carrying, pushing and pulling Ensure the load is relocated and planned in conjunction with the code of practice for manual handling Ensure relocated materials are set down without damage to goods, personnel or equipment and checked for stability Complete an assessment and they will receive the nationally accredited Unit of Competency TDTD197B - Shift Materials Safely Using Manual Handling Methods.
