'' In gaining recognition as a project management professional, knowledge of methodologies such as PRINCE2 is paramount. PRINCE2 Foundation Certification forms the basis of the PRINCE accreditation program.

The workshop has the following objectives:

Understand the benefits PRINCE2 brings to an organisations project management environment.
Understand the application of the PRINCE2 methodology.
Identify organisation challenges of implementing PRINCE2.
Use of PRINCE2 to streamline project deployment.
Address and manage project risks, complexity and issues using PRINCE2.
Understand PRINCE2 terminology and standards as compared with other project management guides eg PMBOK.

Pre-requisites:


Participants should:

Be Project Managers or Team Leaders or have had involvement in a project environment.
Ideally have completed a project management fundamentals course
Have approximately 12 months project involvement/experience
At Course Completion:

Successful completion of this workshop will enable participants to:

Understand the need for project management and how PRINCE2 meets that requirement
Understand the components and main processes of PRINCE2
Apply the processes of Controlling a Stage and Managing Product Delivery
Prepare project plans using product-based planning techniques
Undertake risk analysis and risk management for the project
Prepare information for inclusion in a Project Initiation Document
Understand and apply the techniques for product-based planning, , quality control and change control
Prepare for and take the PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner Examinations

Outline:


Introduction to PRINCE2

The background, objectives, benefits, scope and structure of the method. Tailoring PRINCE2 for different environments and scaling PRINCE2 for use with projects of different types/size.
Processes

Starting up a Project, Directing a Project, Initiating a project, Managing Stage Boundaries, Controlling a Stage, Managing Product Delivery, Closing a Project and Planning.
Project Organisation

Organisational Structure, Roles and Responsibilities, the Project Management Team including the Project Board, Project and Team Management. The roles of Project Assurance and Project Support, handling relationships with Suppliers and Programme Management.
Planning

Purpose and Importance of the Planning Components, Types of Plan, Product Identification and Specification, Determining Stages, Product Based Planning, and the Steps in Planning.
Project Control

Work Package Authorisation, Stage Assessments, Establishing Project and Stage Tolerance, Checkpoint Reports, Highlight Reports, Handling Exception situations and Project Issues.
Risk Management

Types of Business and Project Risk, Risk Analysis and Management, the Risk Log.
Quality

Ensuring Quality, Quality Planning, Relationship with ISO9000, Product Descriptions, Quality Control, and Quality Review Technique.
Change Control and Configuration Management

Change Control procedure and Configuration Management to ensure controlled and traceable product evolution.
PRINCE2 Certification and Examination

By completing the Foundation Workshop (4 days), the participant will have sufficient knowledge to sit the APM Group PRINCE2 Foundation Examination. The Foundation examination is a one hour, 75 question multiple-choice paper. The pass mark is 50%.
Please note: Examinations are taken on the final day of each workshop.

The Association for Project Management Group Ltd (UK) administers the PRINCE2 examination scheme.
