'' The Certificate II in Printing & Graphic Arts (Desktop Publishing) is designed to develop specific skills and knowledge necessary to design and produce documents using industry standard desktop publishing software appropriate to the Printing Industry. Outcomes include formatting of publications; digital alterations to photographs; preparation of material for print such as brochures, newsletters, flyers, business cards; creation of web publications.
The course provides:
practical experience in the application and use of common desktop publishing software packages, including Adobe InDesign, QuarkXpress, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator.
practical experience in the application and use of the fundamental typography and layout skills essential in desktop publishing.
practical skills and knowledge necessary to communicate effectively in the workplace.
practical experience in basic internet publishing using HTML, Dreamweaver and Flash.
practical skills required to capture, edit and manipulate digital images and prepare for export to electronic image assembly.
practical skills with computers and their operating procedures on both Mac and PC platforms.
Qualification & Recognition: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to receive the Certificate II in Printing & Graphic Arts (Desktop Publishing).
Job Prospects: Graduates will be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to achieve entry-level employment as a Desktop Publisher in the pre-press industry or a corporate business.
Selection Criteria: all applicants will be expected to attend an interview as part of the selection process.
