'' The QICT Certificate III in Spoken and Written English (CSWE III) is designed specifically for students with an intermediate knowledge of the English language (ISLPR 1+). Students who wish to build upon the knowledge learnt in PCSWE, CSWE I and CSWE II (or equivalent) are strongly encouraged to enrol in this course. With the guidance of QICT’s industry experienced trainers and lecturers, students complete five course modules, which are as follows. COURSE MODULES
Module A: Developing Listening and Speaking Skills Module B: Developing Reading and Writing Skills LO1: Can demonstrate understanding of a spoken information text LO1: Can read a procedural text LO2: Can provide a spoken explanation LO2: Can write an informal letter or email LO3:Can participate in a discussion LO3: Can write a formal letter Modules A and B are followed up by three elective modules, chosen from the following list: Module C: Intermediate Conversation Skills Module D: Intermediate Spoken Interaction Skills LO1: Can demonstrate understanding of a casual conversation with topic changes LO1: Can demonstrate understanding of spoken instructions LO2: Can participate in a casual conversation with topic changes LO2: Can participate in a transactional telephone conversation Module E: Intermediate Negotiation Skills Module F: Intermediate Spoken Expression Skills LO1: Can demonstrate understanding of a complex / problematic spoken exchange LO1: Can demonstrate understanding of a personal viewpoint in a spoken text LO2: Can negotiate a complex / problematic spoken exchange LO2: Can participate in an interview Module G: Intermediate Spoken Discourse Skills Module H: Intermediate Media Skills LO1: Can demonstrate understanding of an oral presentation LO1: Can demonstrate understanding of a media interview LO2: Can deliver a short oral presentation LO2: Can read a complex advertisement Module I: Intermediate Data Presentation Skills Module J: Intermediate Written Communication Skills LO1: Can interpret data presented in a graphic text LO1: Can read a protocol document LO2:Can complete a formatted text LO2: Can write a formal email Module K: Intermediate Written Discourse Skills Module L: Intermediate Written Expression Skills LO1: Can read a newspaper article LO1: Can critically read an opinion text LO2: Can write a discussion LO2: Can write an exposition Module M: Intermediate Narrative Writing Skills Module N: Intermediate Mathematical Skills LO1: Can read a narrative text LO1: Can use and apply numbers, mathematical operations and procedures LO2: Can write a narrative text LO2: Can demonstrate an understanding of the mapping of space Module O: Intermediate Measurement Skills LO1: Can demonstrate understanding of mathematical terms used to describe shapes LO2: Can apply an understanding of measurement techniques to problem solving ...''
