'' The QICT Certificate II in Spoken and Written English (CSWE II) is designed specifically for students with a post-beginner knowledge of the English language (ISLPR 1). With the guidance of QICTs industry experienced trainers and lecturers, students complete five course modules, which are as follows. COURSE MODULES QICTs CSWE II comprises five modules. The two compulsory modules focus on building listening and speaking skills, and on building reading and writing skills.
Module A: Building Listening and Speaking Skills Module B: Building Reading and Writing Skills LO1: can demonstrate understanding of a spoken information text LO1: can read a procedural text LO2: can participate in a short casual conversation on general topics LO2: can complete a formatted text LO3:can negotiate a spoken transaction for goods/services LO3: can write a recount Modules A and B are followed up by three elective modules, chosen from the following list: Module C: Post-Beginner Strategies for Learning Module D: Post-Beginner Listening and Speaking Skills LO1: can demonstrate capacity for independent learning LO1: can respond to spoken instructions LO2: can use a range of resources for learning English LO2: can participate in a spoken transaction to obtain information Module E: Post-Beginner Spoken Interaction Skills Module F: Post-Beginner Spoken Discourse Skills LO1: can leave a telephone message LO1: can participate in a short conversation involving a recount LO2: can participate in a short conversational discussion LO2: can participate in a short interaction involving explanation Module G: Post-Beginner Reading Skills Module H: Post-Beginner Reading and Writing Skills LO1: can read an informal letter LO1: can read a short information text LO2: can read a narrative text LO2: can write a short information report Module I: Post-Beginner Writing Skills Module J: Post-Beginner Mathematical Skills LO1: can write a formal letter involving explanation LO1: Can demonstrate understanding of and perform arithmetical operations with whole numbers, decimals, fractions and percentages LO2: can write a short opinion text LO2: Can demonstrate understanding of mathematical terms used to describe shapes Module K: Post-Beginner Measurement Skills Module L: Post-Beginner Visual Numeracy Skills LO1: Can demonstrate understanding of measurement of time LO1: Can demonstrate understanding of the mapping of space LO2: Can use common measurement instruments and units to measure temperature, length, mass and volume LO2: Can read simple tables, graphs, charts and diagrams ...''
