Structure of the course:

In the first level one studies Hiragana, Katakana, 100 Kanji, Simple conversation, reading and writing short simple sentences, basic fundamental vocabulary, structure of the Japanese language, the sound system, understanding, speaking ,reading and writing in Japanese (training with 5 years of JLPT question papers). The culture of the Japanese speaking people is also studied. Tapes are used to aid pronunciation.

After the completion of the course the student is able to:

Ø Recognize correct sound patterns.

Ø Read and understand the language from material of this level.

Ø Comprehend the spoken language from vocabulary used in the text.

Ø Write exercises manipulating grammatical items studied.

Ø Know cultural elements of the Japanese society.

Ø Carry on a conversation within the framework of the vocabulary studied.
