Course Description:

'' The Welding Technology program offers students three award options. An Associate of Applied Science degree requiring 121 credit hours for completion, The Diploma requiring 77 credit hours and the Certificate requiring 36 credit hours. New Students are accepted into the program every quarter. The program also offers flexible hours accommodating both full and part-time schedules. This allows students to choose day, afternoon, evening and also Saturday classes to meet their schedule.
The Welding Technology program includes classroom instruction and extensive hands-on training. The Program simulates requirements of nationally recognized codes and standards such as those from the American Welding Society, American Petroleum Institute and American Society of Mechanical Engineers. The curriculum focuses on current welding practices and procedures, material handling, trouble shooting, metallurgy, destructive and nondestructive testing, principles of design and inspection.

Students in the Welding Technology Program get practical experience in SCC labs using modern equipment found in industry today. Lab experiences include plasma arc and oxy-fuel cutting, all major welding processes including shielded metal arc (STICK) gas tungsten arc (TIG), gas metal arc (MIG), flux cored arc (FCAW) and related processes. Students will also gain experience with CNC, CAD, mechanized equipment , fabrication and repair techniques and all related metal working equipment. Students will also benefit from classes in communications, personal finance, computer technologies, and applied mathematics for a total and well rounded educational experience.
