You will learn skills in installing, terminating, monitoring, and earthing cabling systems to meet regulatory compliance.

This qualification entitles you to be licensed by the Australian Communications Authority in telecommunications cabling.

At Midland Campus this qualification is delivered in a combination of practical workshop and outdoor environments where you will learn how to install and fault find voice over data, data and smart cabling systems. The hands on skills and advanced knowldge of the lecturing staff will ensure you are well placed to take advantage of booming areas such as smart wiring new houses.

Successful completion of this qualification provides you with the opportunity to become an Australian Communications Authority’s (ACA) licensed telecommunications cabling installer or gain a traineeship to become a telephone and communication systems installer. You will need to be employed and registered as a trainee before you can commence traineeship training.

Telecommunications cabling is extensively installed and used for many applications including carrying computer data and enabling security and fire systems. With the current strong trend to have houses and commercial buildings ’smart-wired’ with telecommunications cabling, employment prospects are strong.
