'' This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to plan, organise, prepare and cook Asian food in a commercial kitchen environment. You will learn about effective communication, occupational health and safety procedures and workplace hygiene. You will also learn skills to produce quality foods, plan menus, prepare food according to dietary or cultural needs, control costs, work as part of a team and serve a range of meals in a professional manner. You will practice the skills you have learned in a simulated work environment or at an appropriate hospitality establishment.

Develop your dim sum, create a killer kway tao, and fine tune your pho. Learn to plan, organise, prepare and cook Asian food in a commercial kitchen. Other units in this qualification include effective communication, how to control costs, how to work as part of a team and how to serve a range of means in a professional manner.

Swan TAFE’s Bentley Hospitality Institute is a highly regarded training provider of commercial cookery. The team of supportive lecturers are highly knowledgeable and have industry experience in a range of industry positions from Five star to Alfresco dinning. Our lecturers are specialists in their area, e.g. Asian cookery or desserts, so you can learn from experts of specific areas of cookery. There are five fully equipped kitchens at Bentley campus, including one set up especially for Asian cookery. Quality, training takes place at Bentley campus where practical training is ensured through the Bentley Pines training restaurant as well as a Alfresco Cafe and Cafeteria, where a range of quality meals are prepared by cookery students and served to paying customers.

Successful completion of this qualification provides you with the opportunity to become a commercial cook (non tradesperson status), or gain an apprenticeship to become a qualified cook. You will need to be employed and registered as an apprentice before you can commence apprenticeship training.

The Certificate III in Hospitality ((Asian Cookery) is designed to reflect the role of a specialised Asian cook or chef.

The Certificate III in Hospitality (Asian Cookery - Chinese) provides you with a solid foundation with which to approach a career in Asian Cookery. It aims to provide you with a broad awareness and understanding of the hospitality industry and develops the skills and knowledge required at the Trade Cookery Level, including preparation to work as a supervisor or team leader in cooking operations.
