Course Description:
'' This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to prepare drawings, estimates and plans and liaise with architects, builders and contractors of residential buildings. You will learn how to present and document building projects using both manual and computer aided drafting techniques. You will learn about building materials, construction methods and the social and environmental aspects of residential construction projects.
Qualifications in building design prepare students for roles such as Building Technicians, Building Designers and Building Contractors. In preparing for these careers, for which there is a healthy demand in the South West of WA, students will develop the skills and knowledge to document and present a range of design solutions for residential, industrial and commercial buildings. Design, site surveys, construction technology, building materials, and 2D and 3D computer aided design (CAD) also constitute an integral part of the qualification. To adequately equip you for the workplace students will also gain an understanding of project administration, digital presentation and commercial working drawings.
