'' This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge essential to performing music. You will learn about the music industry, develop practical knowledge of copyright and royalties and follow health, safety and security practices important to performing. You can also choose to develop skills in critical listening, song writing, accompaniment, improvisation, career planning and/or performance, sound track laying, digital editing and mixing and audio/visual equipment operation.

This qualification will provide you with an opportunity to develop your music making and music industry skills. The focus is on DIY hands-on practical areas such as playing, songwriting, gigging, recording, networking, self-management and identifying opportunities. The Certificate II and III of Music are conducted hand-in-hand so although this course is only a semester long you need to allow a year to completed both.

A term four tour to Perth, plus various specialised workshops from local and visiting music experts will add to the knowledge and hands on experience that your regular lecturers provide. A high level of commitment for the whole year is required from candidates.

Some units offered are in addition to those required to complete Certificate III. These extra units pertain to music business and sound technology, and are delivered so that students will increase their likelihood of gaining music industry employment.
