Course Description:
'' This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to provide direct care to clients who are unable to care for themselves independently due to ill health or disability, in their own home and community or residential settings. You will learn about the aged care sector, effective communication, dementia and providing care for people with such a condition, safety procedures and ethical behaviour required for work in the sector. You will also learn skills in providing direct care and support to meet the emotional, psychosocial and physical needs of the aged. As part of this qualification you will undertake a supervised work placement where you will be able to apply the skills and knowledge you have learned.
Central West College has strong links with the aged care industry and a high percentage of aged care students move from the classroom to industry placement to employment. By completing an additional workshop, Aged Care students can gain the additional qualification of Certificate III in Home and Community Care. Certificate III in Aged Care units are clustered or grouped together to mirror workplace activities. Many clusters are delivered using real industry projects. Some clusters are delivered with Certificate III Community Services Work and Youth Work students, allowing networking to occur between all Certificate III students. ...''
