Course Description:
'' This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to work as a tour guide or hospitality worker in the outdoor recreation/tourism industry. You will learn to navigate bushwalking in a tracked/untracked area, demonstrate simple abseiling skills, operate communication systems and equipment, and maintain sport and recreational facilities. You will learn about outdoor recreational logistics and o occupational health and safety procedures.
This course is one semester in duration and provides students with the practical skills and knowledge to work as a deckhand, tour guide or hospitality worker in the marine tourism industry. Students learn practical seamanship, small vessel operations and maintenance, the marine environment, gain skills to conduct a charter and provide tour commentaries, prepare and serve food and drinks, sail, sea kayak, snorkel and dive. Graduates are issued with an Elements of Shipboard Safety Certificate, a Small Craft Proficiency Certificate, a Bronze Medallion and diving qualifications to PADI standard.
A pathway to further study is D022 Certificate III in Outdoor Recreation (Multiple Activities) - SRO30306, which is also one semester in duration.
