Course Description:
'' This course is designed for participants to gain the necessary skills to plan, prepare & complete advanced scaffolding work as prescribed by the "National Occupational Health and Safety Certification Standards for Users and Operators of Industrial Equipment." [NOHSC 1006 (2001)]. On completion of this course participants will be able to select and inspect gear and construct and dismantle hung scaffolds.
Pre requisite Participants must hold a Scaffolding - Intermediate (SI) certificate of competency.
Course Content The Advanced Scaffolding training plan is based on the Unit of Competencies within the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF):
UEPOPS201A - Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Policy and Procedures UEPOPS303A - Perform Advanced Scaffolding WorkSafe Western Australia Certification
Legislation in the Workplace - O.S.H. Acts and Regulations; Mines Safety Inspection Act and Regulations; [NOHSC 1006 (2001)]; Relevant Australian Standards reflected in [NOHSC 1006 (2001)]; AS 4576 & AS1576 Pt 1-8; Codes of Practice. Bends & Hitches - Bowline; clove hitch; timber hitch; rolling hitch; use of gin wheels. Plan Work - Site requirements and rules; site hazard identification; emergency procedures; priorities; scaffold fit for the purpose. Scaffold Components - Identify scaffold components and use; identify damaged components. Tube and Coupler Scaffolds - Suspended; hung. Minimums and Maximums for Suspended & Hung Scaffolds - Counter levering/counter weight; tying of scaffolds. Estimation of Material - Design scaffold/take off quantities; obtain quantity for scaffold erection. Practical Training - Erect suspended scaffold. Dismantle Scaffold and Stow Gear - Dismantle scaffold; stow gear correctly; tidy area.
Certification Darwin & Western Australia Competent candidates will be issued with a Statement of Attainment (SA) and a nationally recognized WorkSafe 60 day interim certificate. WorkSafe Western Australia will issue a Certificate of Competency within that 60 day period.
Duration 28 hours conducted over 4 days.
