Course Description:

'' This course aims to train and assess drivers with Heavy Bus/Coach/Truck in the relevant alpine conditions of snow and ice. During the course application, skills and knowledge of heavy bus/coaches in such remote environmental conditions thus giving drivers a better knowledge and improved perceptive of protection of their passengers.

A Hazardous Area Authority is required for drivers of most vehicles with 12 or more seats who wish to drive in areas of the Victorian Alpine region, which in the interests of public safety have been proclaimed as ’hazardous areas’ for a pre determined period within the snow season.

The Hazardous Area Authority only allows drivers to drive in a hazardous area in the category (size) of the vehicle in which a training course has been undertaken. The Hazardous Area Authority does not allow the holder to drive a vehicle if an appropriate driver licence class is not held.

There are two types of Hazardous Area Authorities:

Mt Hotham - this allows the holder to drive in any proclaimed hazardous area, and
Defined Areas other than Mt Hotham - this allows the holder to drive in any area except Mt Hotham.

A current Hazardous Area Authority must be carried by the driver when driving in a hazardous area.
DESIGNED FOR
All persons intending to drive a Heavy Bus/Coach/Truck into Hazardous Areas of Alpine areas during the snow season. In accordance with VicRoads regulations all drivers must have the required Endorsements.
PRE-REQUISITES
Drivers wishing to undertake the course must hold the appropriate (bus) driver licence classification.
DURATION
Two (2) days - 8 am to 5.00 pm (On Snow).
Must have completed theory session prior to two days on snow
Must have Four (4) participants to start course.

QUALIFICATION GAINED
This is a Vic Roads approved training course. A Transqual Training Statement of Attendance will be issued at completion of the course. Training conducted on this course aligns to the TDT30202 Certificate III in Transport & Distribution (Road Transport).
