'' This course develops an understanding of basic accounting principles. It considers the role of accounting information as it relates to decision making. The student is introduced to the income statement, the statement of changes in owner’s equity and the balance sheet. Through the accounting equation, journal entry processing and special journals discussion, the student will learn how an accounting system works and how this system is used to summarize financial data so it can be used to run a business and for decision making purposes. The closing entry and adjusting entry process is discussed. Financial statement preparation is focused on a sole proprietor legal ownership structure.
