'' This course introduces the student to managerial and cost accounting. The focus is on accounting information prepared for internal use by management. Inventory in a manufacturing environment will be explored (raw materials, work in process and finished goods); overhead costs (direct and indirect) will be discussed. Job order costing will be discussed to enable the student to understand the cost of a job by analysing material cost flows, labour and overhead. Fixed and variable costs will be defined. The course will conclude with a discussion of cost allocation and the preparation and use of master budgets as part of the planning and control process.
