'' The Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (AML/CTF Act) received Royal Assent on 12 December 2006 and is designed to prevent and detect money laundering and terrorism financing.
This course aims to orientate and educate you on your fit and obligations under the AML/CTF regime.
This course has been based on the AML/CTF Rules and Guidance Notes current as of April 2008, the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC) has the power to make changes to the Rules and Guidance Notes and you will need to take note of any updates given to you.
Key benefits of the course include: - Develops the skills and awareness of employees so that they can drive the organisations AML/CTF compliance activities in the future - Helps employees translate these obligations into everyday work practices - Describes consequences of not complying with their obligations - Provides guidance on the steps involved in recognising and preventing money laundering and terrorism financing - Supports the successful facilitation of AML/CTF policies
Although this course focuses on the AML/CTF Act, you need to be aware that the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (Cth) and the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth) also regulate activities in this area. Further, provisions of the FTR Act may still apply.
Target Audience: Essential for all employees who fall under the AML/CTF Act. That is, financial services sector, gambling sector, bullion dealers and other professionals or businesses (reporting entities) that provide particular designated services.
