'' The one common denominator in business and in management is people and relationships with people. Communication is important because effective communications can make the difference between success and failure, or at least it can determine the degree of success.
Communication is any behaviour, verbal or non-verbal, that is perceived by another. Knowledge, feelings or thoughts are encoded and sent from at least one person and received and decoded by at least one other.
This course focuses on verbal communication which can take the form of spoken words between two or more people, or written words in written communication, and nonverbal communication which is sent by any means other than words or graphics.
Objectives
In this course you will learn: - How words work by following some useful principles for language used in writing - To differentiate between different types of words tone for effective communication. - How document structures enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of a document and contribute towards more effective communication; and - To format documents so that readers will know as early as possible what the document is about, why it was written, and what is expected of them - That words sometimes convey a very small part of a message; that the total impact of any given message consists of nonverbal factors - About the impacts of communication by elements such as personal space, time, dress / appearance and colour.
