'' This course is designed to show you some broad issues facing consumers of aged care services and issues facing carers of the older person. This course will also look at how society views ageing, and have an opportunity to reflect on how you view ageing.

This course is aligned with a national competency and can lead to the award of a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

There are two pathways available for students completing this program.

(1) You may choose to complete only this online training course and the embedded online assessment. At successful completion, you will be issued with a Notice of Completion.

(2) You may choose to pursue a Statement of Attainment, which can then build towards the national qualification

CHC30102: Certificate III in Aged Care Work
CHC30202: Certificate III in Home and Community Care
CHC40902: Certificate IV in Community Services Work
and other potential qualifications.

Under this option, assessment is competency based. This means that, in addition to completing this online program, you will be required to complete a set of tasks or produce a ’portfolio of evidence’ which shows how you can effectively apply the skills you learn in a workplace setting. These will then be sent to an authorised assessor for assessment. If you wish to pursue this option of formal accreditation, you will need to enrol in the corresponding Formal Assessment program.
