Course Description:
'' Spatial Information Services encompasses the traditional areas of Surveying and Mapping. Surveying involves taking measurements and observations on the earth’s surface to determine the location of landforms and cultural features, property boundaries, roads, etc. It also involves the setting out of engineering works during construction, subdivision of land and renewal of existing structures and industrial plant. Mapping involves the establishment and maintenance of databases on all aspects associated with land and the production of topographic special purpose thematic maps.
A variety of electronic and optical equipment such as total stations, theodolites, levels and GPS receivers are used, together with computer-based computation, engineering design and drafting software.
Who should enrol in this qualification?
Those currently working in the Surveying and Mapping industry, who wish to obtain a technical qualification in this skills area.
This program is ideal for young and not so young, enthusiastic people interested in Surveying and Mapping, working either indoors or outdoors.
