'' This three day workshop will be conducted at an advanced level and cover complex antibody investigations including mixtures and HTLA. The third day of the workshop will cover molecular genotyping and include a practical exercise using real time PCR. Through a program of lectures and tutorials conducted each morning, participants will be introduced to the rarer blood groups, factors influencing their clinical significance in transfusion, techniques used in resolving complex antibody mixtures and HTLA, transfusion strategies for the difficult patient, principles of molecular genotyping using real time PCR and the application of real time PCR in Blood Transfusion. The afternoon sessions of the workshop will consist of problem based practical exercises that allow participants to gain practical skills in the techniques used to investigate complex antibody mixtures and HTLA. Both tube and column agglutination techniques will be employed during the practical component of the workshop.
