'' The Design Studies Series (DSS) is for people wishing to develop their skills and understanding of design, and experience the satisfaction of learning how to apply effective design. It is suitable for people with little or no previous experience as well as those unable to study during the day. This course offers an introductory level of study to the fundamentals of graphic design. It is not a computer course and the focus is on understanding design through manual projects. The fundamental basis for effective design is sound and challenging ideas. This unit will provide the participants with a wide range of strategies to develop your own design resolutions. You will experiment with a variety of different approaches to concept development and explore creative thinking. Participants will generate outcomes using a variety of media that may include: Hand generated imagery, Collage techniques, Digital photography, digital film, photocopier, projections and mixed media. It is not a computer course and the focus is on understanding design through manual projects.
