Course Description:

'' The Design Studies Series (DSS) is for people wishing to develop their skills and understanding of design, and experience the satisfaction of learning how to apply effective design. It is suitable for people with little or no previous experience as well as those unable to study during the day. This course offers an introductory level of study to the fundamentals of graphic design. It is not a computer course and the focus is on understanding design through manual projects This unit offers an introduction to typography and layout, signage and symbolism, branding and logos. Participants will be exposed to historical and contemporary graphic communications approaches and apply them to simple briefs. This is not a computer course and the focus is on understanding effective design through manual projects. Participants explore effective communication through graphic information. The outcomes are generated in a range of media.
