Course Description:
'' The Graduate Diploma of Public Relations provides high-quality professional education in the broad field of communication, with an overriding focus on public relations. It covers a wide range of theoretical aspects. Students will be encouraged to acquire and fine-tune skills in the practical aspects of public relations and to place these in a broader social context.
This is a broad-based program structure in which practical instruction is balanced by an introduction to research methodology and communication theory.
To stay abreast of current changes in the public relations industry, pracademics are enlisted and employed. This means that those lecturers and tutors generally work full-time at the forefront of the industry during the day, and allow time to come into the university to teach during the evenings.
There is a strong focus on practical group work and formation of student consultancies to develop hands-on leadership, teamwork, presentation and interpersonal skills. This approach helps to set the program apart from its competition and serves students by creating confidence, knowledge and experience in real-life challenges.
Students working together are encouraged to give feedback to both their peers and lecturers throughout the program. Lectures and tutorials are interspersed with interactive seminars and visits to external industry premises.
