'' 6S is a workplace organisation productivity tool that lays the foundations for Lean activities. Borne under the umbrella of Lean 6S is an essential tool in the Lean toolkit. Each ‘S�focuses on ensuring that the workplace is organized into a highly efficient and effective area. Designed to support the relentless pursuit to identify and systematically eliminate waste, effective 6S implementation can reduce, and perhaps even eliminate, time wasted looking for things by better organisation and highlight missing pieces of vital equipment e.g. medical apparatus, files and folders. The course looks at each of the 6S’s in turn, offering examples of how it can be used in practice. Implementing 6S will increase efficiency, boost morale and significantly improve the safety of your work environment.

The course consists of eight modules: a 6S Overview followed by modules on each of the 6Ss:
1S Sort: sorting or clearing out unwanted or unneeded items from the work place 2S Set in Order: establishing a place for everything and everything in its place 3S Shine: cleaning up your work environment 4S Standardise: setting up systems to maintain and monitor continuance of best practice from the first 3 Ss 5S Sustain: ensuring you maintain practices requires discipline, discover some simple tools that will make 6S a habit for all within your organisation 6S Safety: eliminating hazards and building safety into everything you do And finally, a short module on how following the PDCA cycle can assist in 6S implementation.
