Course Description:

'' The course is designed primarily for writers with existing skills and experience in other areas to gain specialist knowledge and practice in writing for the screen, but is also suitable for early career screenwriters. The course is structured around the development of a substantial script under the guidance and mentorship of an industry expert.

By the end of this course students will have had the opportunity to:

Develop and hone a substantial project with the guidance of a personal industry expert mentor
Gain insight into industry essentials from a range of practicing experts
Develop skills in assessing and polishing scripts ready for the market
Explore the nature of creative collaboration in screen story-telling and how to benefit from it
Gain the practical tools necessary to build their screenwriting career
Through this one year course students will work on one major personal project and one smaller ‘commissioned�project, with the guidance of an experienced industry professional, chosen for their appropriateness to the project, as their mentor.

This will be interspersed with intensive periods of seminars, practical creative workshops, Masterclasses, through which students will gain core and advanced skills, and gain an understanding of the unique collaborative nature of writing for the screen.

Pre-requisites:

Developed skills as a writer in any form
Ability to attend intensive coursework in Sydney
Places in this course are limited.

This course is offered in ‘executive�part-time mode, with no more than 4 weeks of intensive classes in Sydney, plus some weekend electives. Whenever possible, weekends will be connected to other intensives.
