Course Description:

'' A specialist editing course developed and taught by industry professionals. This course will suit those with outstanding ability, who have had some industry experience, and are now ready to extend their creative skills and acquire professional production experience.

By the end of this course students will have had the opportunity to:

Gain a thorough knowledge of editing drama and documentary
Acquire problem solving techniques relevant to real production environments
Learn to respond professionally to feedback on their work
Develop collaborative skills
Throughout this 32 week course students will work on several student productions.

Through lectures, demonstrations, masterclasses, and industry guest speakers students will explore the creative and technical aspects of editing. A considerable amount of time will be spent editing exercises drawn from professional productions as well as working on collaborative student productions. Industry standard equipment and procedures will be used.

Pre-requisites:

A demonstrated commitment to professional editing.
Practical experience as an editor working collaboratively with a director in industry or in a semi-professional situation, or several years experience as a professional assistant editor.
An understanding of the professional standards expected in the screen editing industry.
An ability to collaborate and communicate effectively.
A well developed creative energy and imagination.
A professional and mature attitude.
A well developed sense of screen culture.
A working knowledge of relevant computer applications.
An ability to work under pressure.
Well-defined goals beyond graduation from AFTRS.
