Course Description:
'' This course is a comprehensive specialist pathway, and is designed for those with some prior knowledge of sound, music or radio production, and who are ready to acquire professional experience for a career in sound design and production for the cinema, television and interactive industries.
By the end of this course students will have experience in:
Creating compelling and immersive Sound for film, television, and interactive
Exploring advanced and emerging sound technologies
Exploring idea-generating and problem-solving techniques relevant to real production environments
Developing creative teamwork skills
Developing a network of industry contacts
Throughout this 32-week course students, through lectures, demonstrations, industry guest speakers, masterclasses, and mentorship, will investigate sound design for film, broadcast, game-sound and interactive.
Students may opt to specialise in either the Sound (Location Sound and Interactive) stream, or the Sound (Post-Production and Interactive) stream.
Students will work on a wide range of practical projects, and have the opportunity for attachment to leading industry practitioners.
Pre-requisites
A demonstrated commitment to a career in sound production
A high degree of self-motivation
A demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
An understanding and interest in current sound technology, and its emerging trends
Relevant vocational or tertiary experience in music, theatre, radio, television, video, film, or interactive.
An awareness of the possibilities for using sound creatively
Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated creative potential as evident in portfolio
Evidence of ability to complete complex tasks
Evidence of original creative thinking ...''
