Course Description:
'' This course deals with the study of fundamental principles of automotive engine electricity. It covers electrical parameters, basic electrical principles and engine’s electrical systems. Emphasis will be on troubleshooting and repair of starting system, ignition system and charging system.
II. OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of the module, the participant should be able to:
1. Understand the fundamentals of automotive engine electricity;
2. Measure voltage, current and resistance using VOM;
3. Read and interpret schematic and pictorial diagram of automotive engine electrical;
4. Understand the Ohm’s Law Principles; and,
5. Disassemble and assemble starter, alternator and distributor.
III. DURATION: 42 hours
IV. PRE-REQUISITE:
At least high school graduate
V. COMPETENCY LISITNG:
1. Discuss the nature and definition of electricity.
2. Enumerate the sources of electricity.
3. Differentiate conductors from insulators.
4. Discuss electrical circuits and Ohm’s Law.
5. Check and test battery.
6. Disassemble starter assembly.
7. Check starter assembly.
8. Test starter component parts.
9. Reassemble starter.
10. Perform starting circuit rewiring.
11. Check alternator assembly.
12. Disassemble alternator and regulator assembly.
13. Test alternator parts.
14. Reassemble alternator.
15. Perform charging circuit rewiring.
16. Check ignition component parts.
17. Test ignition parts.
18. Perform ignition circuit rewiring.
