Course Description:
'' This module deals with the fundamental concepts of electricity and passive electronic components. It also includes topics on essential instruments used in electronic measurements and troubleshooting. Laboratory activities are provided to verify and practice learned principles.
II. OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of the module, the participant must be able to:
1. Measure voltage, current , and resistances using the VOM; 2. Test the operating conditions of passive electronic components; 3. Interpret resistor and capacitor codes; 4. Properly use the oscilloscope for measurement and signal display; and, 5. Read and actualize schematic diagrams.

V. COMPETENCY LISTING:
1. Use Ohms law and power formula to compute voltage, or current, or resistance, and/or power in a circuit given sufficient known variables. 2. Identify different types of fixed and variable resistors. 3. Analyze an electronic schematic diagram. 4. Construct/actualize an electronic schematic diagram using a breadboard or similar device. 5. Create electronic schematic diagram from a given circuit. 6. Properly use an analog and digital multimeters to measure voltage, current, and resistance. 7. Identify the value and tolerance of a resistor through its color code. 8. Identify common types of capacitors. 9. Test different passive devices/components (resistors, capacitors, inductors, transformers) whether they are in good or defective condition using an ohmmeter. 10. Use a typical signal generator in a circuit application. 11. Properly use an oscilloscope to measure voltage, frequency, and analyze waveforms in circuits. 12. Identify different types and subtypes of active devices like rectifier diodes, zener, LEDs, transistors, SCRs, DIAC, and TRIAC. 13. Test different active devices whether they are in good or defective condition using an ohmmeter. 14. Identify terminals of different active devices using ohmmeter test procedures. 15. Construct and analyze a typical power supply circuit. 16. Troubleshoot common problems in a typical power supply circuit. 17. Construct and analyze a basic amplifier circuit. 18. Construct and analyze a basic Power Circuit made of thyristor devices. ...''
