'' The Airline Transport Pilot license (ATP) is the final phase of your training but marks the beginning of your professional airline career. The most difficult requirement to reach for an ATP is the 1500 total hours that is required to qualify for the test. IATA, Inc. has set up programs that will allow you to build experience as a Flight Instructor. The ATP curriculum includes a great deal of theory. The following steps are required to prepare for your ATP:
Attain the required flight experience to reach 1500 hours
Pass a written test
Satisfactorily meet the Practical Test Standards required for ATP and attend approximately 40 hours of Ground School.
Prerequisite: 1500 hours total time (500 hours cross-country, 100 hours night flight and 75 hours of instrument flight time, under the hood or actual) and FAA Commercial Multi-Engine License with Instrument Rating or Foreign ATP. (Joining the program with the ATP written test passed will reduce time and cost).
Duration: The training itself can be done within 2 weeks if all prerequisites are met.
