Course Description:

'' This short course is designed to assist with credit/risk management skills, giving students a detailed
understanding of financial statements, and their analysis. It also provides for a good understanding of
lending practices.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
A knowledge, comprehension and application of the English language at NQF level 4 (Grade 12 or
equivalent).
Although not a requirement, it is preferable that a student has completed the Milpark Business School
Accounting Principles for Bankers short course prior to commencing with this certificate.
CERTIFICATION
On successful completion of the programme, the student will receive a Short Course Certificate in Bank
Credit Management from Milpark Business School. This short course is presented at NQF Level 5.
EXIT-LEVEL OUTCOMES
On completion of Milpark Business School’s short course Certificate in Bank Credit Management, the
qualifying student will understand the business environment in which trading entities operate, the sources
of finance available to such entities and the risks to which they are exposed. In addition, the course
focuses on understanding various forms of financial information and be able to implement the principles
of bank credit (advances) from an African banking perspective.

Relationship management.
Interpreting financial statements.
Elements of good credit proposal.
New developments.
Risk management.
Annual financial statements.
SMME Credit Guidelines.
Cash flow/Budget forecasts.
Securities.
Troubled lendings.
ASSESSMENT
Students are required to submit an assignment, which contributes 30% to the final mark. Students will
write a final summative assessment at the end of the workshop week, which contributes 70% to the final
mark. In order to pass the short course, students need to obtain at least 40% in the final summative
assessment and an overall mark of at least 50%.
