Course Description:

'' Java is much more than a simple programming language. It is a technology that fosters a whole new way to do development. Being Object Oriented (OO) Java requires a whole new way to think about programming. In addition, the OO approach requires that managers understand the upfront costs, long term benefits and potential issues related to using this technology. Java can be used for enterprise development (server and web), client side development or stand-alone application development. This course covers, at a high level, Java-the language, its syntax and how to use it. It then delves into the different Java technologies ; presented from a manager’s perspective. Writing small amounts of Java code is the best way to really understand what is going on. You will, in this short course write a small web-based Java application ; complete with database access, an HTML front end and some business logic.

The Goal
At the end of this course, you will have an understanding of object oriented development, Java client-side technologies, server-side technologies, web based development projects, OO methodologies available (traditional and new) and, in general, be able to understand what is going on with those "developer guys".

Pre-Requisites
You must understand programming technology (you don’t have to be a programmer) and have some experience with the software development environment.
