Course Description:

'' This course is aimed at existing Visual Basic programmers who want to take advantage of the object oriented power and COM capabilities of VB. You won’t have to sit through a course on “how to use a control� To truly take advantage of COM and object oriented programming, students must break some of their procedural habits. We emphasize the proper object oriented use of VB. Bad, VB “hacker habits�are strongly discouraged. The course starts with an introduction to VB’s OO capabilities. It then continues on with COM theory on how to use VB to make truly language-independent, reusable COM components.

The Goal
Object technology and specifically COM, present great opportunities to help alleviate some of the problems that have plagued programming projects for years. With COM, programmers have the opportunity to maximize code reusability and maintainability (amongst many other benefits). After taking this course, you will understand how COM makes this possible and how VB makes COM easy.

Pre-Requisites
This course is geared to students with existing VB knowledge. As such, you must have good working knowledge of the procedural aspects of VB. No OO experience is required.
