Training Course:

HTML Advanced

School/Trainer:

AcademyX, Inc.
Sacramento, California, United States

Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced

Course Description:

'' This class briefly reviews common HTML elements and their attributes, exploring the use of tables for layout control. It also explores techniques to make table coding easier. In this training section, attendees also learn how to define table width, calculate cell width, set table content alignment, create cells spanning multiple columns or rows and design-specific sized cells. This section concludes with a discussion on invisible tables, borders and cell padding.

Object Placement with Tables

Designers may use tables to display smaller components on the page or embed them in other tables. Students learn how to define a table within another table, wrap text around an inner table, use invisible tables as caption for images and use empty columns to create space around images.

Using a Table to Create Common Design Components

Students learn how to use small tables to create call-out and search boxes or smaller design items on a web page. In this section, students also learn how to use tables to create rounded corner boxes and tabbed navigation bars.

Sliced Images and Tables

Oftentimes, images have extensive white space where text cannot reside due to its size and shape. In this class, students learn how to slice an image, increase text space and improve page layout. Students also learn ways to ensure sliced images align with extra spaces removed between images.

Frames, Framesets and Targets

Supported in HTML, frames are used to display multiple web pages in one window. Each page can then load independently or link to present a new page in a different frame. Frames are frequently used for navigational menus. Students learn the advantages and disadvantages of frames and how they can create frames with vertical and horizontal dividers. Attendees then learn how to make frames invisible and load pages in one frame from another.

Inline Frames

Inline frames, or iframes, are similar to standard frames with one minor difference: iframes are embedded into web pages, appearing on the main page as a window to another page. In this training section, students learn how to create iframes, specify properties such as width and heights, and deal with browsers that do not support iframes.
