Course Description:

'' This two-day course was designed specifically for confident climbers who have successfully completed our Sharp End course and have become comfortable leading moderate rock.

The first day includes an evaluation and critique of your current leading abilities as well as an introduction to several useful rope-handling techniques not presented in our Sharp End course. We do this with an eye toward helping you lead more quickly and efficiently.

We’ll begin the second day with a falling practicum. Utilizing short, controlled leader falls and bombproof protection, you’ll gain the confidence needed to push your limits on the sharp end. The remainder of the day will be devoted to “pinkpointâ€?ascents (leads with pre-placed protection) near the limit of your climbing ability.

You’ll place all of your own gear and your instructor will carefully check and evaluate it. By having complete confidence in the protection, you’ll be able to concentrate on reaching your maximum potential without worrying about safety. We will place a particular emphasis on risk evaluation as it relates to leader falls and the psychology of pushing your limits on the business end of the rope.

Our goal for this course is to enhance your ability to lead more challenging climbs without compromising your safety in the process.
