Training Course:Rock Climbing: High Angle RescueSchool/Trainer:Alpine Adventures, Inc. Keene, New York, United States
Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' This two-day course is geared for experienced climbers who anticipate interaction with established rescue groups. Its purpose is to familiarize participants with general rock rescue techniques so that they could, if needed, effectively assist trained rescuers in an emergency.
Anchoring techniques as well as systems for lowering and raising litters in low and high-angle situations will be presented as will special techniques for passing knots and dealing with edges. Special attention will be devoted to explaining how the very high loads commonly associated with rescue operations are generated and how these loads affect equipment and safety.
Personal equipment and preparedness, as well as specialized rescue equipment, will be discussed. Simulations of rescue situations will be conducted with participants acting as rescuers.
Although this course will serve as an excellent introduction to technical rescue for those considering joining a rescue group, it is by no means intended to provide complete training for a rescue team member. It will, however, help you make a positive contribution if you find yourself in a situation where you can assist trained rescuers.
